Building Up Cannon???

Is there some sort of trick to building up my cannon? I have gone on crews but i can only get 20 maybe 25 points at one time.. most are 6-10. I am a level 24 on my NOT but only a level 7 on my cannon... Can someone please help me out here or am i stuck doing this the short and long way?......

Well, u can ask someone from ur guild, crew, or friend list to sail for u... preferably sum1 that has a war shipy and doesnt mind wearing it down a lil bit. Ask him/her to sail near a ship, preferably a high lvl, but not shoot it with broadsides. There are several ways to do this. My favorite way is to have a cannoneer get the ship's attention and get way out in front of it so that the person that is training on my ship can get a clear shot for a while. And ships can't really shoot u from the front (except Frigates... but i've only had two or three incidences where they shoot from the front).

...The point of this is to be able to sink the enemy ship all by urslef. It might take quite a while sumtimes but it's worth it.

To build on what HanMaster said. if you can get a friend or guild member who has thunderbolt to come along he or she can try to take out the sails while trying to do minimal hull damage (easier said then done). then the captain can place the ship out of harms way and you can blast away with chain shot or round shot to get max points. Once you get lightening that will help a lot, you'll be able to do this without depending on others.

I would also suggest that you put what points you can in to shoot and rapid reload so you can get as many shots in as you can when your with a crew.

Shoot bigger ships....I'm level 26 Not...level 21 cannon and can still get near 100 if I try.

Yes im level 24 and i get like 30 rep from a War Frigate! However i found using chain shot really does help alot but you need to use alot and you run out fast.

Easiest way to level cannon is to take your own ship out and park a ways from your target. Shoot sails, once you hit it it will line up on ya, then drop all the sails using cannon. If you are only after cannon, than sink the ship with cannon also. Work at smaller ships at first, than work up to doing skellie ships, that give best rep with this. If you get good enough to not have to use lightning and stay with round shot you can do this all the way to master getting good rep.

Personally I never used chain shot, so that may help as well.

If others shoot sails for ya, that is alot of lost rep to your cannon.

I find it easier to have someone tailgate the ships so those in front do the sinking. I do this using two computers and only those on cannons do the shooting. Although I have noticed that the pattern that the enemy ship sails away from has changed a bit making it sometimes more difficult to do this but most of the time it works. I have helped some people go through about 5 early levels in an hour or two.

Doing a test the other day with round shot on phantoms, with differant level barrage I also noticed something that will make a big differance. Ships out at edge of radar took half damage from cannon verus it being right on top of you. I know I got usually 100 rep almost all the time on sailing and cannon both when I was leveling on skellie ships.

Take down sails with round shot, move boat back if it gets to close and finish it off with round shot at a distance so you get more hits in. You can use this method if you are not getting the full 100 points rep and sinking it too fast.

As always, have crew and crew bonus always adds to this.
