Question uninstall / reinstall- would I lose my character and levels?

I am thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling the program to see if it might help with the terrible lag that is occuring with my computer / game. My son and I share a computer with our own sign ons and he was the one who downloaded this program from his sign on. We have experienced problems in the past with programs, so was hoping if I removed and reinstalled it might help. I know that there are apparently inherit problems with lag in this game, but possibly mine is worse because of that. I really don't want to lose my character and the levels that I have achieved. Has anyone else uninstalled and reinstalled, if so, did it help and did your character survive. If someone can answer this soon, it would be appreciated. I want to get this corrected soon if I can. It is about to drive me crazy with how bad this is. Thanks.

All character info is saved on Disney's servers. So you can never loose your characters unless Disney has a serious problem with their system. I've been playing Toontown for years, which is a similarly based game, and I've never lost my characters on that game.

I guess a bad install could cause additional lag. I would suggest updating to a new video card or adding more RAM to your computer as these tend to help more than anything else with POTCO's lag. I know most people don't have a lot of extra money to throw around just to play a game, but it might be something to look at if a fresh install has little to no effect on your lag issues.

What bat said you character info and stuff is stored on disney's servers not your computer so un-installing and re-installing wouldnt do a thing to your account except maybe improve gameplay.

Just as a followup, I've formatted my computer twice without any issues to my characters or any of my items and stats. (what can I say - my job sometimes is hazzardous to my computer )

Unlike the games such as many RPG, RTS or FPS (Role Play, Real Time Strategy or First Person Shooters), true MMO's basically use a Terminal Interface for connection and world building only - the end servers handle all the specifics - so no worries on your hard work

Unfortunately like even real Server Side connection, the big areas to review are Internet Connection (Router? Installed Firewall or Virus Protection? Poor or dying network card?), Memory (as MMO's tend to need to store lots of info in memory once they do connect to prevent calls back to the server), Video Card (not an issue for Work Server Programs, but Games once again cause this issue) and finally CPU (the old rule always applies - faster is better).

In that order is where I'd start hunting down isuess and many times its Internet Connection and / or Video related.

Good Luck

Angry Deleting and reinstalling- Just say NO!

First of all, it didn't really help to get rid of the problem that I had. Second, I had to spend about 4 hours with the techies to figure out how to get the program back on again. I ended up having to not only unistall the program, but they had me remove all of the other files/folders that were stored on my computer. Afterwards I was able to reinstall it again with little trouble. After all that, it didn't help anyway, but a person doesn't know unless he tries, right?

If you un-install it you will keep your pirate,
because its stored on Disney's servers but if something happens to you like
Gladiator thats a diffrent story LOL
