Exclamation Pirates is really slow

On my computer, pirates is always really slow. Like when I start battling something, the game freezes and the enemy ends up behind me, so it take forever to turn around. Are there any known ways to fix this?

Try updating your graphics card/driver and setting everything on pirates to low.

While playing you can also turn off things that are on.
Ex. In the bottom right hand corner you may see yahoo or things that don't have to be on while playing. Just right click on them and exit or quit.
Do NOT turn off any virus protections or spyware.

If none of that works then try buying more memory for your computer. I would say about 2GB of memory.

"Get more RAM" is always a good solution for slow games in general... mainly because it's cheap for any reasonable amount (as long as you're not trying to run Crysis or something), and it'll help your computer's response time in general too.

I'd do what Ironhawk said. The game does the same for me, but I usually have something running in the background when that happens.

Freeing up system resources is a good start, close any unnecessary applications. It is generally not recommmended for safety reasons that you disable any antivirus/firewalls, etc.

Making sure to remove any non-essential files, clearing temp files/temp internet files, making as much room available on your "C" drive as possible. Running the Defragment utility can also help to alleviate some issues by making your pc access information more efficiently.

Turning down Video, Graphic, and Display settings (top to bottom in options), you can improve your systems ability to display the game by asking it to do less.

Upgrading memory well 'almost' always help, but if you already have 2gbs, this is not likely an issue at all. If it is, then you likely need to remove some applications from memory (ie your running too much).

Note: Please exercise caution with any utility you may find on the internet, get your parents assistance/permission where this is appropriate, and take measures to make sure what you get is free of virus's. The application I mention following this note itself does not harm your system, but you never know what some malcontents may do when repackaging/distributing.

I do not intend on promoting a product, but there is a pretty nifty little program that you should be able to find with a simple search.. Its called "Enditall" (now in version 2). Now the idea is that it will help to identify applications running in memory, how critical they are, and allow you to 'kill' them clearing up system resources. Many of my gamer friends have found this tool very helpful.
