Best Skill Point Spread For Privateering?

What is the best way to spend your sailing and cannon related skill points specifically for privateering?

Is it good to strengthen the armor on fast sloops? Or concentrate on making them faster?

Is it good to strengthen the speed of the two slower classes galleon and frigate? Or concentrate on making their armor even stronger?

I created a "privateering version" of my regular pirate, and I want to benefit from everyone's experience!

I think it depends if you plan to sail with crew or not.

Spending Skill points

First , I have to say when you figure out how to make the armor on the ships stronger please let me know. With that being said, here is what I have set.

As far as sailing skill points you do not need to put anything on broadsides. You can of course, but you'll spend gold later to change em.

Windcatcher = 5
Full Sail = 5
Take Cover = 5
Ramming Speed = 5
these are the essentials, rest up to you where you put them

For cannon points
Fury = 5
Firebrand = 5
Shoot = 5
Rapid reload = 5
Round shot = 5
Thunder = 1
demolition = 5

The reason for round shot at 5 is just in case I intend to sail. Then it acts as the broadsides would (hence not putting points in Broads)

If I am not going to use the pirate for sailing I take the points out of round and put em in thunder.

*Firebrand is the only ammo that gets thru Take Cover EXCEPT if the opponent is using Grape shot. Then nothing gets thru. Dont get so close as to be graped.
