The staff here at POF is chosen by the administrative staff based off a variety of factors.
The best thing to do if you want to be a moderator is just to go about your business as a member, and when the admin staff goes looking for a new moderator they may contact you if they feel you are right for the spot. It goes with the age old motto though, "Don't call us; We'll call you."

Out of curiosity, is there a certain number of posts that is recommended/required for mods/admins? As I have seen mods/admins that have less than 100 posts. I was just wondering how that would work, as most people would need to see a significant amount of posts in order to know to choose someone, regardless of how thoughtful the posts may be.
Anyway, thanks Jack. I was wondering that for a while too. |

There is no set number of posts looked for with a new staff member, but more about how long that user has been around and what they've done in that time. Most of the mods you see with few posts may be from one of our sister sites. As there are 6 forums ran by Nick, moderators do sometime share privileges on different forums, and Administrators have full access on all the forums. That may explain the moderators that you see with low post counts.

On a serious note, nobody can explain it better than a mod. Thanks, Jack!
