Sinking player ship....? - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

So...we were sitting on our Galleon at Port Royal and a light frigate (also just sitting at port) was shooting at us as we waited for our crew to board. Well, I find that annoying and it slows my comp down when getting shot at so I decided to shoot a couple of lightning bolts light l-frigs way. Other crewman was lobbing standard cannonballs their direction. I then set sail and headed east passing in front of them (they still shootin'). My crewman shot them some more and then...BAM...THE THING SUNK!?!? There was no enemy ship in sight or within radar distance to be shooting at this l-frig.....I really think we sunk it. Don't know how, but it was hilarious.

This happened to anyone else? Would've taken a picture, but there wasn't anything to take a pic of seeing as the l-frig was at the bottom of the sea.

LOL maybe they listened to all of our complaints about noobs shooting us.

Or maybe you found a back door into ship PVP...

U sure they sunk or did they just dock and the ship vanish?

Time could've been up...that makes sense. They definately sank...graphics and sound were present.

Well lets hope they THOUGHT you sunk them, That is so annoying it would be good for them to wonder . . . . . LOL

Indeed! If the rumor gets out that big ships can sink little ones, maybe the newbie canoes will stop the endless shooting.

Heh heh, I bet they were thinking, "Hey, I thought we couldn't damage each other......Waaaaa".

It gets so annoying when you're sailing around and have some little gnat lobbing shots at you. I mean, they can't hurt you "supposedly", so all it does is annoy you a little bit until you get out of range. It would be neat to be able to sink them if they hit you like 5 times that would unlock some feature so you could broadside them and sink them. Heh heh.

I haven't sunk any of them, but I know what you mean about getting ready to set sail. You're getting shot at before even taking the wheel by some little ship next to you. I started lobbing thunder at them, just to see the boat catch fire! That was fun, LOL. Then I take off real fast so that the rest of their shots land in the drink.

I mean, what's the point of shooting up someone's ship at anchor? It's not like you're going to get the other ship or any plunder. Duh...

Now, with the new privateering thing going, who knows? Maybe you can sink other ships after joining a side. But then maybe those little ships in harbor will be able to do damage to you, too, albeit not much, LOL.

I think you're only vulnerable upon picking a side: and I certainly ascertain in reasonable hopes that it is so. Would be annoying to be shot by Angel or another when you're just doing a quest. Come now.

I've also noticed that the sails looked ripped up if you fire at them, though it doesn't appear to have any consequences other than freaking out the noobies.

Remember that timer near the top of the screen? The one that has noo purpose? Actually its how long till a little bomb goes a sinks ur ship! In other words u can only be at sea for an hour.

lol. i hate that. i normally have to go to a quiet server. but its not just the newbie canoes its also the big ones. i had a war galleon start shooting at me the other day. also those repstealng light sloops that take advantage of their speed. one light sloop that was anoying me was getting shot at by a vauguard that i was killing nd it was sailing to port with alot of damage and i pulled out in front of it in my galleon and it ran into me. i let it sink. lol, it was stuck. then i sunk the vaunguard and got a pretty piece of profit, too. i like shooting those that shoot me. they are so terrified when my broadside of 11 or something hits them. then if i have a crew, i get them to fire fury, lightning, and explosive and fire brand at them. it fun seeing the sail for their lives thinking they are about to die.

200th post, too! figured id do something for justice. lol

I for one am past tired of getting shot by one of us. And its usually when I try to leave or enter Port Royal, always with no enemy in sight. They really need to cut it out.
