No Lag anymore

I used to get a lot of lag. Totally unplayable if on a busy server and especially on things like flag captures or lots of people on cannons. I managed to finally stop getting any lag at all.

BUT

I had to run:

64 Bit Vista with 4 GB of RAM
512 MB graphics card (not integrated)
7200 RPM or faster drive
Any decent processor
Turned off all extraneous start up programs
Turned off anti virus (while playing POTCO)
Turned off Windows system restore for my drive
Turned off any OEM restore

Beyond buying a server, running 64 Bit Vista lets you finally use 4 or more GB of RAM

I have noticed less lag in my game play in the last few days and I didn't change anything. Not sure why though lol.

Maybe Disney is finally finding a way to optimize the game.

I've had a lot less lag in the past couple of days too. Albiet I've got a crappy laptop in the first place, but it's nice to not be so laggy. The only thing that gets me now is when people shoot off firebrands from the cannons....it totally crushes my comps performance. And what am I supposed to do? Ask them not to shoot fire?

Pirates is still limited to 2G, since it's a 32-bit app.

It concerns me you totally leave ur self vulnerable while ur playing the game. I can understand why that is tempting but I would definetly be backing up your hard drive with a couple of gigs or more flash bcause that could easily b useful. Just my opinion.

True, but little to none know of or remember the virtual drive ability. With 4G one could put Pirates in 2G leaving 2G for system resources.

On a side note, 4G has been allowed since NT (granted virtually nothing was ported for NT) but also XP64 would better then 90% of the time allow most software to load. It also allows dual/quad core implementation.
