Shut out of the game! REFUND! HELP!!!!
I got the update for the new Port Royal, I waited for an hour for It to be released, logged in, I was at "connecting"(before home page) and the screen went black and told me to send a report, I did, it told me to uninstall the game and then reinstall it, I did, I got the same outcome. I tried changing to the X9, I have X10, which should work fine. my connection is fine: exccellent and connected. What should I do? Do I get a refund? HELP!
Edit: thanks to Zeppers (not that others didnt help but this person came up w/the solution.) I can now get In, but I am most displeased with the update, There is LOTS of Lag I see and I get lost in the new port royal. to be positive grenade explosions Now make noise. PLEASE CLOSE Last edited by edwardburnskull; 02-03-2009 at 11:33 PM.. Reason: I fixed it |

There are 3 settings "OpenGL" (default) "DirectX 8" and "DirectX 9". Try the other settings. This has been an issue with a number of people with this new update. It was good of them to give us the option, but it seems to be causing some conflicts with some of those that already had the game working. |

Yes, "texture compression" to 0 should help people who can't get past GRAPHICS OPTIONS. Thank you for reporting this here, where it helps.

"C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\PiratesOnline" folder, and locating your "game_options.txt" file. Open this file with Notepad, and review the information. Change the file manually per his recommendations (if your attempting his solution). Save the file, and try to run pirates again. Do NOT reenter the "Graphic Options" button/section of the launcher once you manually edit the file, or it may revert back to its previous (non-working) entries. I hope that is helpful. |

Hover mouse over "Start" button.
Click the RIGHT mouse button. From the pop up menu that appears when you RIGHT click choose "Explore" Once the navigation folder opens, look for a sub-folder called "Program Files" Double Click on the "Program Files" folder Look for the Folder within "Program Files" called "Disney" Double click on it and look for the folder called "Disney Online" Double click on it and look for the Folder called "PiratesOnline" Double click on it and look for the file called "game_options.txt" Right click on the "game_options.txt" file and choose "Open With", then choose Notepad. Modify the file as stated in a previous post. |

The following link reflects how to create this file on the latter half of the guide.
http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ad.php?t=10133 The game should create it once you change settings under the Graphic options within the game itself. If its never loaded completely before, this may be why its not there. It would mean your system is using all the defaults (likely Open GL, instead of DirectX9) |
