There were some changes to the compass with the last update, so to get a better feel of how close you are to another ship; Zoom the camera out all the way using the mouse wheel then click the plus (+) sign once. Hmm I didn't think about that.
If it happens again ill try working with it.
It just seemed very strange, when it was firing it looked like the broadsides where not hitting me and just going into the water.
