Remi's Caribbean Adventure, Part I

Intro

First time posting to this Forum - I wanted to be able to CONTRIBUTE something when I finally went active.

I'm Remi Boncoeur, guildmaster of Square & Compass (Pirate Guild 267 if you look us up on XD)

And, here's my work...

Basically, it all stated when I turned 40 (in game.):

I needed something to do, besides levelling those wretched grenades. So, I embarked on a Caribbean Adventure. Essentially, I've gone to every island to look for bugs/glitches, as well as plain and silly photo ops. Here's my set of "vacation
photos."

Never one to give away all of my secrets, I won't be saying how I pulled off each photo - some of them have already been given away on this site, and really it's going to be more fun for you to try them out on your own.

I wasn't sure where to post this, since a lot of these shots are considered "glitches" ... but, since quite a few are just interesting/amusing shots, here we are in "screenshots."

SIDE NOTE: I've done my best to NOT edit these photos in any way, with only one exception - on the "Ms. Swann" pic, I've edited out the dialogue in an effort to keep other pirate names out of this posting.

ALSO, I didn't post a pic of every single time I found a way outside of an area, or inside a tree or bush... I'm frankly worried it's already a little too repetitive. Just spare us all from the "you didn't go behind the bar there!" or "ha! you didn't hide in that house!" I probably did... but congrats on finding it, too!

Without further ado, my vacation photos (with semi-amusing captions):

Port Royal

I decided to start out where the whole adventure began... Port Royal.

First things first, I wanted to meet up with the old friends who'd helped me along the

way. Off I went to Ms. Swann's house - unfortunately, I stumbled through her fountain

along the way to the mansion...

She must not have been amused, since she did her best Donald Trump impression:

Next up was Will Turner, but he was too busy to talk.

The only person who really had time for me was the one who REALLY taught me

swordfighting!

Keep in mind that, as an occasionally-undead pirate, I needed to keep a low profile on

this vacation:

Despite any navy hostility, I tried to do the touristy things: See the local sites,

art, and history across the landscape...

The morbid side of me decided to visit some old friends, too.

Of course, weird things seemed to start after the graveyard. First off, the caves held

hidden treasures like solitary mine carts and ocean-front views:

In a different cave, I wanted a picture with the big skull-spider-thing, but the undead

witchdoctors kept messing up the shot. Instead, I had to stand inside the mountain and

take a shot of it from behind...

While I was there, I thought I'd try to pay back Jolly Roger for all of his unkindness -

he wasn't fazed, sadly.

UFOs disguised as shrubbery?

Nothing much left to do here, aside from experience the open plains and hollow hedges:

I stopped in at the gypsy cart, and heard about some new shops opening up, selling

jewelry and clothing!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're open yet.

"Maybe there are new shops in Tortuga... I could use a bigger hat."

Tortuga

It didn't help that I sunk my ship en route and had to swim the rest of the way, other

than giving me a nice pic of the town:

More bad news on shore, too! The seamstress was preparing for the new updates, but

couldn't give me a definite date for them.

Oh, and before I forget! To anyone who's completed the quests and has bribed this guy

his ton of gold... this felt good.

At any rate, I got a bit misguided looking around the island and had to use a back

entrance to get to the swamp

At least walking around the outside of the swamp for part of the way kept all of the

gators at bay...

Of course, I had to duck into the little shacks while I was inside.

Then came the rat's nest, where I went a bit overboard with "Flaming Skull"

To get these photos, it took a real leap of faith.

At this point, I went around to the wild islands, hoping for some off-the-beaten-path

thrills.

Sailing

No luck with shipping. First off, one wrong turn takes you to "uncharted waters."
[Point: Before you laugh at my relatively tiny war sloop, I have one of each warship.

Yeah, it's like that.]

Even worse, the Kraken kept stealing my ships - once, I ended up in Davy Jones' Locker

with my galleon, The Red King:

Somehow I awoke from that nightmarish place... in prison? Well, nothing to do but

strike a pose!

With my boat destroyed (in theory), I decided to commandeer the Cuban shipwright's half

-vessel and continue to the wild islands.

Onward!

Part III

Devil's Anvil

Since it was closest, figured I'd stop in and see my old pistol-giving friends at

Devil's Anvil. Though, I wish someone would've told me about falling rocks - at least a

warning sign or something!

When I got inside the cave, it seems like Barbossa had fallen asleep smoking a pipe

again:

This seems to be the only way to have a photo op with Governor Swann.

He didn't offer me an apple...

Don't forget about Jack!

Moving on...

Isla Cangrejos

There was NOTHING interesting here, so I took the opportunity to show everyone where to

find the darn treasure on this island (be warned, it tends to not show up the first,

second, or twentieth time.)

Here's hoping for more at the next place.

Rumrunner's Isle

Who knew this little isle could be so frightening... perhaps it had something to do with

the pack of Were-crabs:

I had to hide in a little basement, Evil Dead style!

Of course, in typical horror fashion, the place was twisted and strange - other-

dimension-esque, if you will.

Luckily, I kept moving along...

Driftwood Island

Being so worldly, I felt the urge to stand up and shout my views on protecting nature...

but didn't get a kind response. Instead, I barely escaped decapitation.

Cutting through a mountainside, I came to Bronze John, who said I could use his cabin to

rest up:

Again, never a normal place!

I offered to help him fix his ship, but just ended up... stuck?

Bah, better to just keep on sailing...

Isla Perdida

Just a quick stop here, first to see Scary Mary...

Then to shower behind the waterfall.

So fresh, so clean, and continuing around the outer edge to Cuba!

Cuba

I travelled to Cuba for a variety of reasons...

Firstly, I'd heard of a gator disguise that threw them off of your scent:

Also, this tree reminded me of the film, The Fountain.

If ever there were a "Pirate Heaven," this tavern in the sky might be it!

However, the barkeep accused me of "breaking the bar" and made me work off my debts,

first as a bartender and then as a host...

Finally, I convinced the shipwright to save me from the unfair work.

Now free again, I headed into the swamp to say hi to Tia Dalma - oops, I blinked in this

one...

That's better.

I had to rent a boat to get to her, what with all of the diseased swampwater I'd heard

about from friends:

Tia Dalma was out feeding her pets, as usual

BUT, she had an interesting tip for me! "Beyond the boardwalk...

and down the dark corridors...

beyond the swamps...

lies WORLD'S END!"

Who knew?

Isla Tormenta

I was really hoping to just skip Tormenta, but stormy weather knocked me off course.

One minute you're happily sleeping in your cabin, and then...

I tried sneaking past all of Davy's crew...

And hiding in the next outgoing shipment:

I was quickly found, bound, and brought to their leader.

Luckily, they underestimated me and left me on the beach for the crabs to finish. Too

bad for them, I left before they could materialize!

Back on course, towards Outcast!

Outcast Isle

Ah, Outcast Isle, the prettiest of them all!

Unfortunately, there was a cold spell that froze things up a bit - I had to skate from place to place on top of the water! As you can see by my expression, I'm not a cold-weather pirate:

Don't you think this clearing should be hiding a Master Sword or something?

I met a Stump, but it (and he) was short-lived...

Listen to the hints, kids: Don't pet the scorpions!

Oh, and watch out for bugs in the thick underbrush.

Fortunately, there's a nice place to observe it all from:

I heard Padres was acting a bit lively for a volcano, so I crossed the small channel (with the big ships) to check it out...

Padres del Fuego

The volcano did look exciting...

But I wanted a MUCH closer look.

After I'd gotten my fill, I used the hidden cave to get back to town.

I did some extreme vacation stunts, like cliff diving:

Unfortunately, I missed.

Nothing like a good haystack to get your spirits high again!

Besides, of course, a stay at Club Ded:

While there, I heard about some catacombs with Jolly Roger as the guest of honor...

But you know me, I needed a closer look.

... too close. Ouch.

That ball of green fire had odd effects on me. Soon I could do things like fly, survive fiery heat, and walk on water!

Once that wore off, I did a quick (safe) cave tour over some lava falls...

And left towards the final two islands - Cutthroat next!

Cutthroat Isle

I always wondered how these islands got their names... I learned about this one the hard way!

With a bit more fear, I went the Rambo route through the jungles...

And STILL ended up in the weird! How about a sky battle with a Stump? I won, and vanquished him back to the shadows!

Last island, and maybe a normal experience...

Kingshead

Does anyone else remember Jurassic Park when they see this entrance?

Before heading inside, I wanted to find that second dock on the other side of the island - it took a little climbing, but I made it:

Inside Kingshead, things were quiet... a little TOO quiet:

I searched high and low, from balconys to boxes...

but I only found 1 guard!

Just as I was about to commit to a simple life of farming, though...

I was ambushed and thrown in the old jail! This time, with an awake guard!

Luckily, I gave them the slip on the way to my execution:

Good thing, too, since this is what would have become of me!

With that, my vacation ends...

Outro

And now, Remi stands on the shores and waits for new adventures to come to him - it's very zen, you should try it.

Thanks in advance for comments!

Wow, great! Thanks for posting all this. I need to give the link to PotCO in the Report a Bug screen, if you haven't already done it. That is really interesting, with all the bugs and stuff! I want to know how to get into the Kingshead Jail Cells. I want to grenade or staff the Assassin without getting myself torn to shreds!

Remi, we met once upon a time in the Tormenta Cave, but you are such a busy guy, you probably don't remember me! I enjoyed all the pics, you should be the official POTCO tour guide! I really should take screenshots of all my bugs, but I always think of it after the fact!
